Haircare Became my Therapy
While I was in college, I found unexpected peace in a simple routine: styling my hair!
Every few days, I would try something new, twists, braids, updos, color, an afro.
I didn’t know it back then, but those moments in front of the mirror became a healing space for me.
It was my therapy!
It helped me process pain, tap into creativity, and slowly reclaim parts of myself that trauma had tried to silence.
I didn’t know it at the time but I styled my hair so often because it was my way of taking control, especially during times when I felt like I had none.
Sometimes healing doesn’t look like therapy sessions or big breakthroughs, it looks like something as simple as doing your hair!
Each of these style represents not just a look but a moment in my healing. ❤️🩹
Haircare isn’t just aesthetic.
It’s emotional.
It’s spiritual.
And for me, it became a powerful way to overcome trauma, build resilience, and show up for myself!

All Textures Deserve the Spotlight
I believe that beauty has never belonged to just one texture, so I created Strands of Faith to help change that.
Like many Black women, I grew up relaxing my hair without ever getting to know my natural texture. Over time, I realized how deeply society glamorizes certain hair types while overlooking others and how this subtle bias can shape our confidence, self-image, and even our mental well-being.
I started Strands of Faith because I wanted something better: clean, high-performing products that deeply moisturize textured strands for more than just one day, while affirming that every strand is worthy of celebration.
This brand was born to honor all textures, create a more inclusive standard of beauty, and remind us that our natural strands are not just beautiful, they are resilient, worthy, and powerful.
Made by Textured Hair for Textured Hair
Products made specifically for textured hair have too often been an afterthought. I knew we deserved better—high-quality, clean formulas made with our unique needs at the center. So I created SOF with intention: to give you the confidence to embrace your strands, your way!
Our products are crafted to deliver serious results: length retention, deep hydration, healthy scalp care, and real growth because your texture deserves nothing less!
No mass production or private labeling.

Before launching Strands of Faith, during my time in a cancer research lab, I had the opportunity through a research project to help develop a nanoparticle delivery system that was designed to deliver anti-cancer drugs directly to tumors while protecting healthy cells.
That hands-on experience taught me the power of precision, care, and purpose in formulation. It’s the same mindset I now bring to every Strands of Faith product where every ingredient is selected with intention, quality, and care.
No Sulfates or Silicones
We believe you shouldn’t have to compromise your health to care for your hair. That’s why our formulas are free from ingredients like Imidazolidinyl Urea and parabens, which have been linked to potential health concerns.
We’ve also chosen to leave out sulfates and silicones because sulfates can strip moisture from textured strands, and silicones coat rather than nourish.
At Strands of Faith, healthy always comes first because when your hair is truly cared for, styling becomes effortless.

When I created Strands of Faith, it was about more than clean beauty. I wanted to build a brand that speaks to the whole person reminding you to stay grounded, stay encouraged, and keep faith at the center of your journey, no matter what life brings.
For us, faith isn’t just a word. It’s a reminder of purpose, of hope, and of the strength within you!
Texturism is Real!
In 2009, I did my second Big Chop after relaxing my hair again and cut my long, straight strands down to just two inches. I remember texting a guy friend at the time, and when he found out I had cut my hair, he “politely” told me to hit him up when it grew back. He didn’t like the short, textured look.
But the irony? Months later, when I flat ironed my hair and it resembled relaxed strands again, he reached back out.
That moment stuck with me not because of what he said, but because it revealed something deeper: texturism is real.
And many of us have experienced it, whether directly or in more subtle ways.
Studies show that women with tightly coiled hair often face more discrimination in professional and social settings compared to those with looser textures or straightened styles.
It’s not just about hair, it’s about identity, acceptance, and access.
That’s why I created Strands of Faith, to put textured hair at the center, where it belongs, and to amplify the truth that beauty starts from within, not from society’s outdated standards.
When you fully embrace your texture, your beauty, and your story, you redefine the standard.
